The Mineola Nature Preserve in conjunction with The Astronomical Society of East Texas will be open to view the Perseid Meteor Shower on Tuesday evening, August 12th from 8;30 PM until after Midnight.  This is a weather permitting event. If the weather is overcast or there is precipitation the event will be cancelled.  There will be a "cancelled" notice posted on this website and signs at the Preserve will be posted to say "NO STAR GAZING TONIGHT".

Bring a lawn chair or blankets for the observation period. Binoculars are OK, but not necessary. Please park on the West side of the parking lot (signs).  Please do not us flashlight-these tend to interrupt nighttime viewing.
